Support

Supporting our community
We provide the best support in the city as we make sure our support is always ABOVE and BEYOND.

At Meriden Housing, we deliver very high-quality living standards that are cost-effective and aimed at vulnerable individuals who need assistance and help to maintain a tranquil life, gain respect and dignity for themselves, and move on to a stable life.

Our support is tailored to every individual. We work alongside our tenants by helping them better themselves. We focus on each individual by creating a unique support plan for them based on their needs. Both support workers and residents work closely to reach the goals set for them which lead to them living a better standard of life.

If needed, we also signpost them to the relevant external agency to make sure they are receiving the most support needed

Our support carries on once residents have found suitable moving on accommodation, where we will check up how they are doing and settling in. As we believe support shouldn’t stop.

We provide a after care service, where we will help residents move there belongings to there new home.

Mental Health

We have worked with residents for over 10 years suffering from substance misuse and alcoholism.

We help with making the first step for residents. We also help with ongoing support by helping them stay away from triggers that would cause a relapse.

We work alongside CGL all across Birmingham and help with taking our residents to appointments. We understand how difficult the first step can be, so we make it our priority to help actively to break the cycle of addiction.

We also support the families of our residents as we understand the impact it can have on not just individuals but the whole family and the relationship breakdowns it causes.

We promote active lifestyles by going for walks with our residents in scenic environments. We plan days out with our residents according to their interests and hobbies.

Domestic Violence

We provide all only male and all only female houses for our residents who have suffered or are suffering from domestic violence. We understand the impact it has on them, and we provide the correct amount of emotional support to them.

We help them gain their lost confidence, getting them back into the community and making sure they do not fall back into the hands of violence.

As for females, we have only female support workers who can assist with their needs and support so that it does not trigger off any fear from the past.

This is the same for our male residents too.

YOU ARE
NOT ALONE

Whether you are suffering from homelessness, domestic violence, rough sleeping, or family relationship breakdowns.

Our support continues

Even when residents have found suitable moving on accommodation, where we will check up on how they are doing and settling in.

We believe that support should not stop.

After-care services

We provide after-care services.

Where we will help residents move their belongings to their new homes.

Probation

We work alongside probation services to help with reoffending behavior and keeping their accommodation. This is the main factor for offending behavior and the cause for delays in prison releases. We keep rooms ready for prison leavers and accommodate Friday releases. Being unable to find alternative accommodation on Friday is a major risk factor. We then step in to help and support.
We create a holistic environment for all our residents so it is somewhere they can call home.
We understand that ex-prisoners take time to engage as they have had a turbulent time. So it’s a slow and gradual process to integrate them back into society.

We have trained interpreters. They help those with language barriers.
Mainly refugees as a lot of the time they do not speak English.

Giving back to our amazing community

Social Responsibility – Giving Back

Supporting find training courses and employment, we work closely with the Department of Work and pensions to find work and training for each individual.

We help with volunteer opportunities in the local community to gain some experience. Birmingham is the second city where the opportunities to gain are endless. We understand that every individual has different passions and goals, so maybe employment is not for everyone. We also understand that some individuals are creative and want to become entrepreneurs, businessmen, and women.

It is about feeding the passion and making the step towards an idea they have. It can be very hard at first and that is why we make sure the individuals have access to all equipment to achieve the best results.

We are here to make positive changes in the community that would be a lasting experience for all and for voices to be heard.

YOU ARE NOT ALONE, whether you are suffering from, homelessness, domestic violence, rough sleeping, family relationship breakdowns.
